Typical LIW application
"Optimus® Plus"
"Optimus® Plus" is an advanced microprocessor based Loss in Weight (LIW) controller. Suitable for use with the entire range of Web Tech AutoWeigh screw and vibratory feeders. "Optimus® Plus" is also suitable for use with a wide range of other propriety, load cell based, screw and vibratory solids feeders, currently in use world wide.
Housed in an industrial enclosure, rated to IP66, "Optimus® Plus" is suitable for use in most industrial environments. Where extreme environmental conditions may be encountered Optimus® Plus can be mounted into optional stainless steel enclosures.
An intuitive menu driven based operator interface combined with a large keyboard and display, provide for easy data entry and process viewing. The powerful electronics package has been designed with harsh industrial environments in mind. The switching power supply has been augmented with components to protect against power surges and noise. All the I/O is protected from noise and power spikes.
Ample input & output facilities combined with a range of industrial communications protocols (Device-Net, Profi-Bus & EitherNet) make Optimus a powerful and versatile LIW controller.

Easy Set Up and Calibration
A twenty one key keypad is used to enter calibration data, as well as to access. Multipurpose function keys provide a method of navigating through the menu structure.
Historical trending is available allowing for process variable examination. All relevant I/O status conditions are viewable at any time, along with the load cell and tachometer outputs in real time. Initial and ongoing calibration data is held in non volatile RAM. An on board flash memory card provides the user with an elegant method of updating system firm ware. The flash card also allows for the logging of up to 2 weeks PV, set point, load cell, tachometer and various other parameters.
Because "Optimus® Plus" calibration procedures are menu driven and prompts are full English statements, adjustments to any parameters are easily accomplished by just a few key strokes.
Data pertaining to any calibration can be recorded automatically by connecting a printer (optional extra) to the RS 232 port and initiating the print menu depending on software installed.
With an optional EtherNet card installed, all the menu screens and the associated variable can be displayed on a PC. Converting the standard EtherNet connection to a fibre optic connection provides ample transmission distance.
Optional add on cards provide for the use of ProfiBus & DeviceNet
Load and Speed Detection
Load cells of varying output ranges can be used, making "Optimus® Plus" the obvious choice when contemplating updating older weigh feeders or Loss in Weight systems.
A wide range of belt speed encoders can be employed with outputs ranging from a minimum of 2.5V to 50V.
Magnetic pick-up devices are easily utilised with no changes to "Optimus® Plus" or the magnetic pick-up. Where a preference is shown for precision high speed and high resolution.Web Tech AutoWeigh manufactures a range of industrially hardened optical encoders. High quality seals and bearings ensure that the device will perform under the harshest of industrial conditions providing the user with reliable and long term service. An optional stainless steel housing is available.
Outputs for Remote Counters and Displays
"Optimus® Plus" has outputs which:
Allow it to communicate with a wide variety of displays and controls.
A 4-20mA current loop (externally powered or Optimus® Plus driven' provides a proportional rate signal This signal can be used to drive analogue or digital rate meters or to provide rate data to PLC etc.
A second 4-20mA output channel (externally powered or Optimus® Plus driven) is used to provide the PID signal. This signal can be used to control motor drives and is used with Web Tech's range of weighfeeders.***
